“Our world is in peril!”
You know what I’m talking about. Kwame, the Earth guy, says it in the opening credits. . .
Some of you will have stopped reading by now, for those of you left, I know its because you agree Captain Planet and the Planeteers was the shiznit. Now, while we may not be literally tackling creepy villians who for some reason love breathing pollution, the message isn’t totally fictional. There are a lot of “villians” in the world who are just out for the buck and don’t care about the environment. Erin Brockovich anyone? Sustainability isn’t just about cycling and recycling. Sometimes that message gets a bit tiresome. And it all sounds like alotta work ay?
But think of it this way, if someone dumped some nuclear waste on your lawn, or you found out that the factory down the road was polluting your local school yard, you’d be pretty pissed right? You might even go all Belle on Home and Away. The thing about sustainabilty is this IS what’s happening, but it’s at a slow rate, imperceptible unless monitored over time. SO we should care. ‘Cos saving our planet is the thing to do! For a blast from the past, check out Captain Planet here:
And if you’re so inclined, have a Captain Planet marathon and note down those awesome tips they had at end.
We’re the Planeteers, you can be one too!
