Really interesting fact about cars.
Most of us know air-conditioning uses more petrol. And thus costs us more. So when we are driving around in our crusty student cars, we crank the windows right? Saves petrol. Only people in BMWs and Audis keep their windows wound up tight. . .
Apparently though, when driving at high speed, it’s actually more efficient to use the air-con. According to the wise old internet and allegedly proven on Mythbusters, the drag caused by having your windows open negates the fuel saved by having the air-con off!

Another interesting fact on that same page: “It is worth noting that a warmed-up, idling engine, uses enough petrol to go at about 20km/hour if you were using that petrol to actually do something…”
